Day 119 Sandakan to Kinabatangan

Collected from our hotel at 11am we didn't get too far till a cycle race touring Borneo held us up for a couple of hours. The driver took a few back roads where he could to collect everyone but the main road out was blocked so we waited & watched as they came by.
At Kinabatangan we waited for torrential rain to slow then took a boat across the swollen river to the jungle camp. It was a tour package for 3 days & 2 nights to include boat trips each morning & evening, walks, food & accommodation in our own small chalet.
We were a bit late for the first boat trip (normally 4-6pm) we got out after 5pm and went at first only just across the river to see some long tail macaque monkeys, then we cruised up the river seeing a big monitor lizard sitting on a branch out over the river, we saw some proboscis monkeys settling in for the night & a kingfisher.
Later in the evening we did a night walk through mud and water right to the top of our gum boots we did see two kingfishers but the threat of tiger leaches coming from all angles including above took a bit of fun out of it.
