Time flies! Its nearly 10 years since I sailed in to Hong Kong and spent a few days here, so today we went over to Kowloon on the classic star ferry and walked Nathan road but with the Chinese New Year it was quieter than normal all the shops were open but there were none of the usual markets were running.
After lunch I took us on a bit of a detour hoping we were heading back to the waterfront but between raised pedestrian walkways a mountain of construction and underpasses it took a number of dead ends to get back down town Nathan rd. We did come across a bamboo theatre, it was as the name suggests a theatre made out of bamboo inside a movie was running and on exiting the news crew reporting on it came running Rachel & I made a smooth exit but Karl got caught and was asked a few questions on what he thought of the theatre.
Knowing the fireworks were on at 8pm we hung around Nathan road and got dinner coming out all the roads were closed and the masses of people were being directed by police. By completing a massive loop with the crowd we got as far as the bottom of Nathan road the crowd stopped and the awesome fireworks display started The news latter said they spent 8.8million HK$ and the show lasting 23 minutes. Looking behind us back up Nathan rd it was packed full with people and when we came to leave expecting a slow trip we were home in no time.
