A power cut during the night took out the hotels Internet so reception rang ahead to make sure our next place had room for us. The answer being there's no one here so I think we have room.
The bus trip by far the most exciting yet!
The Chinese equivalent of hitler kept jumping on the bus as people got on yelling and throwing arms everywhere I figured it was a baggage problem because space was tight underneath, He got people off the bus claim each bag and bring on smaller ones. All very simple, thank god it wasn't the tourists causing the trouble though, cos he was not happy!
The street went to single lane quickly and passing through a small town involved plenty of horn use(more than the normal approaching ANY vehicle, passing ANY vehicle, not happy with anything or approaching ANY corner).
Then through a gorge with lovely looking water but the banks were littered with rubbish.
On arrival we needed cash for our shanghai ticket, we got help got the bus to the bank, ATM was being refilled the assistant was helpful wrote Chinese on paper so we could book tickets & rang station to check they had tickets available. 2 more bus trips latter we were at No2 bus station to get another bus to Qinghua our base for 3 nights while we explore the neighboring villages.
We nabbed the first unsuspecting passer by who kindly offered to escort us to our hostel after a few calls he was lost & an 11yr old boy was sent from the hostel to get us. The boy spoke a few English words he & Rachel got on well. He gave lollies and Rachel gave tea.
Awww!!
