This is our 1st full day here. Sleep wasn't so bad in our hostel and good bunch of guys here who've done what we've just set out to do.
So today we hit the forbidden city and Tiananmen Square a couple of impressive sights security is fairly high plenty of guards and putting your bag through an X-ray machine is common to any sight/station/underground.
It took a little while to get our bearings this morning(about 2hrs) it was a nice loop though.
I mentioned yesterday it is cold and today the strong wind provided a serious wind chill factor. Thermals were required!
We booked our train tickets to Harbin up north for the 5th the ticket station was busy and the one guy who spoke English hadn't quite grasped it yet. So it was more than expected and the overnight we wanted wasn't an option. All transport is expected to be very busy this month with the Chinese new year.
Food wise we've done ok so far had dumplings, beef blackbean & various pastries, avoided all sorts that were at the restaurant starting with chicken feet or the market today had centipede or starfish on a stick.
