Day 14 day trip to Huangshan

Mountain time!
Up early at 5.45,had some tea in our room along with some nice biscuits we bought the day before and we were off.
The bus went from the train station across the road from our hostel,we had organized it last night.
The bus took an hour to get to the little town near the mountain called Tangkou. Once we got off the bus nobody had a clue where to go or what to do so we got talking to three Chinese girls that had been on our bus, one of them spoke English so she helped us get on another bus which dropped us to the base of the mountain.

The plan was to get the cable car up the eastern steps, do some of the treks around the summit and then walk down the western steps back to the bus stop. The cable car up was long roughly 20mins and went through the clouds to the summit.
The sign posts and maps on the summit were terrible so we got a bit lost.
The mountain was amazing, it was huge and the views were really gorgeous with clouds covering some areas. At one stage it started snowing for a good while making it look very pretty. The mountain was HIGH..once we went for the treks on the west side the paths got narrower to the point where we were walking along a narrow path suspended from the side of the mountain with just a sheer drop below- as you can guess I didn't like that one bit!! We went to the end of that stretch of trail only to find out the higher parts were closed off for winter ( thank god really - Tim was dying with his flu at this stage and I wasn't enjoying the heights) so we had to go back the way we came. Lots of steep steps uphill which Tim was finding really tough managing only a few steps between breaks at this stage so we tried to head for the cable car down instead of walking it.

The last bus was at 5 which we thought was plenty of time but it was very confusing finding our way around the summit so we ran out of time pretty quickly.
The mountain was absolutely beautiful the pictures don't do it justice!
We got on a bus back to Tangkou where we very nearly missed our stop again until a guy got on the bus asking did anyone want to go to Tunxi (in Chinese of course which makes it all very confusing). He had a bus waiting across the road and we jumped in- all very easy, it even dropped us on the corner of our street!
We got noodles for dinner in supermarket and relaxed. Tim has gone to bed to try and get rid of his flu.
Easy start to the day tomorrow-bus to Wuyuan at 12.30 so can sleep in!
