Day 32 Yangshou

Friend or Food!
After breakfast we hit the farmers market we have been to a few but this one is a little more special, we had read about what to expect but while looking at a nice bunch of chilies we could here yelps then the sound of a cleaver hitting a board then no more yelps. Having a fair idea what it was we wondered past the ducks & chickens both in live, freshly skinned and cured form, past bugs bunny and over to see the quite cute breed of dog we had been seeing outside many family homes now being 'prepared' on the table. The neighbouring stalls had dogs skinned & cured hanging for sale with piles of dog fur on their counter, the cages in front of these stalls had a couple of dogs, several cages full of cats and some goats were sitting around but nothing looked remotely healthy. Further on was more of the items we're familiar with seeing here some trotters and other bits, plenty of fish, eels, turtles, toads and snails.
We then put to rest a relationship long query that Rachel could ride a bike, renting bikes and rode along the Li river through some small villages we hoped to get to Fuli but after a few hours it was time to turn round so we would be back in time for the impressions light show.
The show was very impressive lighting up the limestone peaks around the tiered seating with water in front where the hundreds of performers sang, paddled hundreds of lit up bamboo boats and dancers with light suits moved with red umbrellas.
