After breakfast while watching a mouse clamber through a display cabernet near our table(we have seen the odd rat in the streets before but this, our first in restaurant experience), we got a bus to Yangdi what should have been a 30min trip took 1.5hrs a surprise since all other public transport has been on time or early to arrive. We had to change bus I'm not sure why our original one did seem fine. In Yangdi we purchased our park entrance tickets which had more than quadrupled since our book 2009 was published and started our river bank walk. Three boat crossings of the river to keep with the path were included with the ticket. The walk at a decent pace took us about 4 hours along the river through tiny villages with limestone peaks all around, it's where the picture on China's 20yuan note is from and was very pretty.
Back in Yangshou we had dumplings & noodles for dinner, resisting the temptation to spend twice as much and have western food in this town where we are spoilt for choice because it's much more touristy than we've had so far.
